About the Author

Amy E. Sklansky is the author of a dozen books for children, including three poetry collections. She loves to travel and has been lucky enough to visit the Colosseum three times. Many of her travels have included schools and libraries, where she talks about her books. Up next on her travel list: Chichén Itzá (which you can read about in this book). When she’s not traveling, Amy calls St. Louis home.

Wade Zahares is the illustrator of many acclaimed books for children, including Liberty Rising: The Story of the Statue of Liberty and Window Music, which was named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. He takes inspiration for his whimsical landscapes from the rolling hills surrounding his studio in Maine. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Zahares’s work is displayed at the DeCordova Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
